Baby Behavior Class
This class focuses on infant behavior from birth to 6 months. Stages of infant alertness, cues & clues they give to caregivers, ways to calm a crying baby and realistic expectations about a baby's sleep patterns will be discussed. This class may be attended before or after the birth of your baby. This would be an excellent class for anyone who spends time with infants under 6 months of age. This class is FREE for all registrants.

Breastfeeding Class
Feeding your baby is one of the most important decisions you will make for your baby. Learn the basics of breastfeeding, including common techniques, health benefits for you and your baby, and instructors will answer any questions you may have about breastfeeding. Dads are encouraged to attend class as well. This class is free of charge for women planning to deliver at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. Women who are planning to deliver at another facility, your fee is $15 per couple or individual registrant.

Childbirth Education Series Class
Expectant parents will learn tools and techniques in this interactive class in preparation for a positive birthing experience. You'll learn about the labor and birth process, including relaxation techniques during labor, as well as what to expect after delivery. You will also learn some important information regarding newborn care. Classes are generally scheduled on the same weekday evening for 4 consecutive weeks. To facilitate your comfort during the class, you may want to bring a pillow to each class. You will also be given a tour of the OB unit. Free for those delivering at St. Mary's. If you are not delivering at St. Mary's, the fee is $40 per couple or individual registrant.

Growing Babies (Breastfeeding Support Group)
This support group for mothers who are breastfeeding or are thinking about breastfeeding is scheduled on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Each meeting will include an educational offering as well as time to network with other breastfeeding mothers and to discuss breastfeeding concerns with a lactation consultant. Food is provided and mothers are welcome to bring their babies. Please register at least 2 days prior to the scheduled meeting. Free!

Infant CPR for Parents
Infant CPR for Parents is a new program that reflects the new science in the official 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. This class is for new parents, grandparents, family members and anyone who wants to learn lifesaving Infant CPR skills but does not need a course completion card. Participants will receive an "all-in-one" training kit that teaches Infant CPR, Infant Choking Relief, & Calling for Help. The course utilizes the AHA's research-proven "practice while watching" technique, which allows users to watch & learn lifesaving skills while practicing on a personal manikin. The class participants will have the teaching kit to take home after course completion & may use the kit to train other family and friends. Course participation will require a maximum of 2 family members per training kit. Two people can attend for a class fee of $35.

​Infant Massage Class
A comforting touch can do wonders for you and your baby. It can help a baby deal with colic, gas, hiccups, constipation and can help a baby sleep. Massage is also a great way to just relax and bond with your baby. This class will discuss the benefits of massage and the instructor will demonstrate basic massage strokes and acupuncture points on your baby. This class is free!

Online Childbirth Education Class
This is for women delivering at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Jefferson City.
Our online childbirth class is ideal for those expectant parents who can't attend an on-site childbirth class due to work schedules, time constraints, or medical conditions. The eight-chapter program is an interactive, web-based class that uses videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities, and games to teach all the essential information parents need to know to prepare for their baby's birth. 

After you register for the class, an individual login code will be emailed to you for your online class. You can use the code for up to 60 days after registering. Online only -$50 for e-Class if you are delivering at St. Mary's in Jefferson City. For all others, the fee is $75.

Saturday Childbirth Preparation​
Expectant parents will learn tools and techniques in this interactive class in preparation for a positive birthing experience. You'll learn about the labor and birth process, including relaxation and breathing techniques used during labor, as well as what to expect after delivery. You will also learn about some important information regarding care of a newborn. Dress comfortably, and to facilitate your comfort, you may want to bring a pillow. Lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs. You will also be given a tour of the OB unit. Free for those delivering at St. Mary's in Jefferson City. Otherwise, the fee is $40 per couple or individual registrant.​

Super Sibling Class
Welcoming a new baby into the family can be an adventure, especially for big brothers and sisters! Our class helps prepare big brothers and sisters for the addition to your family. Children the ages of 3-10 will benefit the most from this program. Parents attend class with children. The goal of this class is to reinforce a parent’s love for a child with the addition of a new baby. Safety issues regarding a newborn are discussed, a craft project is made, and the evening is concluded with a tour of the OB unit. If possible, please have the child bring along a doll or stuffed animal that we can diaper and wrap in a baby blanket. Free for those delivering at St. Mary's. If you are not delivering at St. Mary's, the fee is $15 per family.​​

    • I am age 35 or older.
    • I am NOT experiencing any issues, such as a lump, nipple discharge or other changes.
    • I was not diagnosed with breast cancer within the last three years.
    • I have not breast fed within the last six months.
    • It has been one year or more since my last appointment.
