Richard A. White, MD, and Carrie Lucas, FNP, offer a wealth of expertise and experience to residents througout the Mid-Missouri region. Dr. White completed his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Baylor Sports Medicine Institute and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Shriner’s Hospital in St. Louis and the University of Missouri. Lucas completed her nurse practitioner degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Richard A. White, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and general orthopedics. He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry, with a minor in biology from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and graduated with his medical degree in 1999.
Dr. White completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Missouri in 2004. After his five-year residency, he completed a one-year fellowship in sports medicine at Baylor Sports Medicine Institute in Houston, Texas, where he was actively involved in the care of athletes on the Houston Astros baseball team, the Houston Texans National Football League team, and with the athletes from the University of Houston.
Dr. White is board certified in orthopedics, has a subspecialty certification in sports medicine, and treats disorders of the hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and wrist. He specializes in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery. He is currently involved in research regarding the use of nanoparticles in ACL grafts with a patent that is pending.
Carrie Lucas, FNP-BC graduated summa cum laude from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in May 2002. She then completed her graduate degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner in May 2006 at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has worked with Dr. Richard A. White since prior to graduation. Her current responsibilities include seeing, evaluating, and treating patients in concurrent clinics with Dr. White, assisting him in the operating room and addressing other patient issues and concerns as necessary.
