St. Mary's Hospital – Jefferson City provides speech therapists that are certified in LSTV LOUD® (Lee Silverman Voice Training), an effective voice treatment technique for individuals with Parkinson's disease or a neurological condition. LSVT LOUD improves vocal loudness by stimulating the muscles of the voice box (larynx) and speech mechanism through a systematic hierarchy of exercises.

​Vital Stimulation

The VitalStim Therapy System is a safe and effective treatment for patients suffering with difficulty swallowing. It was developed in response to the 15 million Americans living with dysphagia today.The VitalStim Therapy System is a non-invasive, external electrical stimulation therapy cleared by the Food and Drug Administration in 2002 for the treatment of dysphagia with application on the anterior neck.The VitalStim Therapy System is designed as an adjunct modality, meaning a clinician will apply VitalStim while simultaneously working with the patient on swallowing exercise.


Used as an adjunct to traditional swallowing therapy, VitalStim has been found to be:

  • safe and effective for patients
  • accelerate the recovery time from a restricted diet
  • help patients achieve sustained improvement and long term results

    there are some circumstances that require our assistance with scheduling.

    Please verify the following before proceeding:
    • I am age 35 or older.
    • I am NOT experiencing any issues, such as a lump, nipple discharge or other changes.
    • I was not diagnosed with breast cancer within the last three years.
    • I have not breast fed within the last six months.
    • It has been one year or more since my last appointment.
