Overwhelming number of births during first year in new hospital moves up family birth center expansion plans
Jefferson City, MO (Nov. 16, 2015) — Due to an overwhelming number of births since moving into the new hospital, the SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Jefferson City Blessed Beginnings Family Birth Center just finished construction on two additional rooms to accommodate more patients. This brings the total of private LDRP (labor, deliver, recovery and post-partum) suites from 12 to 14.
"Since moving into the new hospital last November, we've seen a dramatic increase in women coming to SSM Health St. Mary's to deliver their babies," said Leslie Charlton, manager of the Family Birth Center. "Our exceptional staff of nurses, techs, physicians and our lactation consultant really wow them and show them how wonderful a birth experience can be."
These rooms allow mom and baby to stay in one comfortable room for the entire childbirth experience. There's plenty of space for family and friends to visit and a sofa bed for dads to spend the night. There's even a mini-fridge. Expectant and new mothers enjoy oversized bathrooms, complete with a roomy shower and soothing body jets, elegant flooring and tiles, and a plush robe. The latest advances in care and technology are also featured, including a Level II Nursery equipped to handle more complicated births, exceptional board-certified physicians, a full-time lactation consultant and a 24/7 team of anesthesiologists to manage pain.
