Jefferson City, MO (Dec. 3, 2015) — SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Jefferson City has been awarded ultrasound practice reaccreditation in abdomen and gynecologic specialties from the Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).
"This AIUM reaccreditation is a tremendous accomplishment for our sonographers and physicians," said Kim Weith, director of the laboratory and medical imaging for SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Jefferson City. "It demonstrates our commitment to delivering the highest quality of care to our patients."
The hospital achieved this recognition by meeting rigorous voluntary guidelines set by the diagnostic ultrasound profession. All facets of the practice were assessed, including the training and qualifications of physicians and sonographers; ultrasound equipment maintenance; documentation; storage and record-keeping practices; policies and procedures to protect patients and staff; quality assurance methods; and the thoroughness, technical quality and interpretation of the sonograms the practice performs.
SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Jefferson City Imaging Department is comprised of 50 board-certified staff members who work in their respective fields of diagnostic x-ray, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, ultrasound, echocardiography and vascular modalities.
